Popularly, Egmond aan den Hoef is also called 'De Hoef'. In the early 20'se century, an American painters' colony was established in Egmond aan den Hoef.

Egmond aan den Hoef has a beautiful location. You can reach the beach of Egmond aan Zee in just a 2,5 kilometer drive. The city center of Alkmaar is a fifteen-minute drive away. You drive almost directly onto the N512 and from there you reach the A9 via the N9.
Sights
The several beautiful bell-shaped farmhouses that Egmond aan den Hoef has are characteristic of the North Holland landscape. Some of these farms and houses in this beautiful village are a protected villagescape and are classified as national monuments. The eye-catcher of the village is the Castle Chapel, which is now widely used for weddings and cultural activities including concerts and events. There is a lot to do in the Slotkwartier, there is a nice walking route through which there is a lot to see!
In the 2e The Hoever Village Festival takes place on the weekend of June. On Saturday afternoon and evening you will be taken into the history of Egmond aan den Hoef. The Slotkwartier will then be transformed into an experience of art, culture, food, drinks, music and games. On the Sunday following the festival, an annual market will be held with more than 120 stalls. All kinds of things are sold here; from items found in the attic to new clothing and artistic objects.
