In this blog we will tell you what the many benefits are, what you can do to make your home more sustainable, and what subsidies are available for 2021. Let's sustainalize!

The REAL benefits at a glance

Is saving money one of your New Year's resolutions for 2021? Then we have good news for you: by making your home more sustainable, you will save money! How? We will explain that to you.

Are you going to buy a home? Then you can borrow more for energy-saving measures when you take out your mortgage. You can borrow up to a maximum of 106% of the value of the home instead of 100%, which is a bonus!
Do you have your own home? Then you immediately save on your energy costs. Did you know that with 10 solar panels on your roof you can save up to €560 per year? And solar panels are becoming cheaper, so you often get your investment back in 6 or 7 years. Hello sunshine!
The energy-saving measures increase the value of your home, making it more interesting for potential buyers.
And also very important: with the purchase of, for example, 10 solar panels you save 1.400 kg of CO2 per year. Which is equivalent to six months of driving a petrol car throughout the Netherlands.

Tips to make your home more sustainable

If you start making your home more sustainable, you should consider insulating your home, ventilating it well, generating your own sustainable energy and sustainable heating and cooling. Below we give you a number of tips for measures for your home.

  • Set your central heating boiler to 60 degrees and have it adjusted on the water side by a central heating engineer. You can easily set the temperature yourself and save you €1 per year within 60 minute. Know how to? Read it here (Set your boiler to 60 degrees).
  • Other lamps are almost no longer available, so switch to LED lighting. This will save you almost €25 per year with such a small measure.
  • Have your house properly insulated. This includes floor, cavity wall and roof insulation, replacing window frames or a green roof. Get information from a recognized insulation specialist.
  • The next step in making your home more sustainable is good ventilation. How? By replacing your old ventilation box, for example, but also installing ventilation grilles and cleaning air ducts.
  • You can generate your own energy with solar panels or a solar boiler. Did you know that with a solar boiler you save around €120 per year?
  • You can heat and cool your home sustainably, for example, by using a heat pump. This will save you around €220 per year. It is important that your home is well insulated.
