De Rijp itself
De Rijp is one of the most beautiful villages in North Holland. De Rijp is an idyllic small village in the municipality of Alkmaar. When you walk through De Rijp and the beautifully restored houses from the 17e century, you become enchanted. Due to the many national monuments, De Rijp has a protected cityscape. In total there are about 120 national monuments in the village.
De Rijp is the right place for your daily shopping. The village has a shopping center called Het Boegbeeld. A weekly market takes place every Thursday in the parking lot next to the shopping center.
From De Rijp you can take beautiful boat trips in the Eilandspolder. This polder is located between the villages of Graft, De Rijp, Noordereinde, Grootschermer, Schermerhorn and Driehuizen. These boat trips are offered on tour boats with an experienced skipper or you can rent a kayak! The Eilandspolder is not only a beautiful place for sailing, in winter it is also a beautiful skating route.
De Rijp is also known as a village with the smallest candy shop in the Netherlands. The shop is so small that it can't fit more than two people! This shop once started as a bakery, later a greengrocer's, cigar and cigarette shop and now as a candy shop with sweets from grandmother's time.
Are you a real sauna enthusiast? Fort Resort Beemster is an 8,5 km drive away. A luxury spa hotel located in a former military fort. This is not only ultimate enjoyment, but also a real eye-catcher. Fort Resort Beemster is in the top 10 of Dutch saunas!

De Rijp has a library and 3 primary schools, 2 of which are public and 1 Roman Catholic school. Sports enthusiast? There are plenty of sports clubs in De Rijp, so you can join a tennis, basketball, canoeing and cycling club or join the SV de Rijp football club, which will celebrate its 2022th anniversary in 100!
