Groet

Groet

Greet yourself

Groet is a village located in the municipality of Bergen. Groet was once an independent municipality, but this was only for a short time. In 1834, the municipality of Groet was merged into the municipality of Schoorl, which in turn became the municipality of Bergen in 2001. King's Day is a holiday that you will not miss in Groet. There will be a long coffee table on the Kerkbrink where everyone can sit. The local baker provides pastries and the coffee is poured by volunteers from the village association.

Groet has always been a popular destination for primary schools in North Holland, so De Stolp is a well-known location for many. No wonder, because from this location you can walk straight to the beach.

Nature in Greetings

Not so long ago, a forest ranger discovered that a dune top behind the Groet climbing dune is the highest dune in the Netherlands! The dune top is no less than 55,50 meters. You can enjoy walking and cycling in the surrounding forests and dunes. This is also a perfect location for children to enjoy nature.

Sights in Groet

The white church of Groet is definitely worth a look. The church provides a vantage point over the landscapes of North Holland. This way you can look over the dunes, sea, dike and polder. The church is also used as a wedding location.

In the months of July and August, a fair is organized every Monday evening by the Village Association. During this pleasant fair there will be live music and activities for children.

The same village association organizes an annual Light Evening on the first Friday after the summer holidays. 6 bands, no less than 130 musicians participate and make music. The children walk along with decorated carts, bicycles or other attributes. Most of the gardens in Groet are festively illuminated. The conclusion of the Festival of Lights takes place on the Kerkbrink, where a spectacular laser show is held on the Witte Kerkje.
