Rick Hageman has been running the cozy Spar supermarket on Korte Vondelstraat in Alkmaar with his brother Ron for five years.
A piece of history
The Spar Vondelstraat supermarket recently celebrated its five-year anniversary. Rick was 20 years old when he started at Spar. In 2015, he and his brother are the owners of this popular supermarket.

Rick says that their supermarket focuses on consumers who want to eat conveniently, like long opening hours and who opt for direct consumption. What is important? "Collaborating with local entrepreneurs is good for the quality of life in the city," says Rick. The collaboration with local shops makes it attractive to residents and as entrepreneurs you can help each other to jointly strengthen brand awareness. Together you are strong! And it is a win-win situation: people taste the products from local shops and think: hey, then I will also go to that local shop, for example the poulterer.
