Sven van der Klein has worked for housing associations for many years, where his focus was on renting out homes. In 2012, Sven founded an architectural consultancy firm. The main services were construction inspections, delivery inspections (new-build homes) and the preparation of multi-year maintenance budgets. At the end of 2018, Sven sold his company and continued to work as a consultant.
